Well hey there strangers.
Yes, I know it's been awhile but no fear..
Lexxbeck is back in action.
It has been a crazy few weeks, let me tell you.
Recruitment, moving, starting SENIOR YEAR.
I've been trying to get everything done and get organized for this year,
and that's why I haven't been on my blogging swag lately.
But I'm finally posting today.
And it's honestly making me so happy to be writing again.
But enough sap...
----
Like I mentioned before..
I'm a senior in college. How did this happen? I'm not quite sure.
But it did, and I'm here and ready to conquer.
Going into my forth and final year, I'd like to think I have college figured out.
Ha ha, I'm kidding. I'll never understand and I'm about to graduate,
but let's just pretend I do so I can share with y'all
my tips and tricks to making it through the semesters.
(I've survived this long, so obviously I'm doing something right.)
What better way to kick off the school year,
and my return to blogging again..
than by giving my "advice" on how I get through school.
Whether you're a newbie still scared because you went to the wrong class..
(Don't worry, I've done it every year I've been at WKU)
or a fellow senior who's senioritis has kicked in heavy already,
I hope these tips are helpful to surviving life in your collegiate years.
(Or attempt, let's be real, I'm no expert)
But any way, here we go!
----
1.) The 50/50 rule.
I stand by this as my best way to live.
(Mostly because I'm lazy and don't feel like being a girl)
If you don't know about this magical rule,
it basically states that half of you is done up and the other half gets to be lazy,
when it comes to wardrobe choices for that day.
Do you're basic makeup routine, but then throw on your Norts and baggy t-shirt.
I don't understand the girls that wear dresses to class. I just don't.
Fall time is ever better because when you wear leggings and boots,
you look 100% together but you know it's the 50/50 rule playing in your favor.
DO NOT skip on necessary morning routines like brushing your teeth,
that's not what I'm saying at all.
But there's a way to be lazy without looking like you are.
2.) Purchase a planner.
I slacked on this advice when I was a freshmen (and sophomore),
but getting a planner, especially a cute one, has been the best for my busy schedule.
The harder my classes got, my sorority obligations, my part time job, bills being paid,
it can be so easy to loose track of time.
Every single one of my favorite designers (like Lilly Pulitzer and Kate Spade)
make super cute ones in all different styles.
Find one that suits you best and get cho lyfe togetha bro.
I'm currently using a Erin Condren life planner for my senior year,
I highly recommend to check that brand out as well.
3.) Find what relaxes you.
No lie, college gets stressful.
You need to find a hobby or routine that keeps you sane.
Me? I bought a cat and go to the tanning bed.
Whatever works for you, do it.
It'll help to have something to look forward to when weeks get hectic.
4.) You eat that queso, girl.
Or Taco Bell, a bottle of wine, or all of the above. I won't judge.
You're going to eat unhealthy in college, it just happens.
All you vegans and gluten-free peeps out there, props to you and your strong will power.
You get busy and poor (very poor),
but obviously you have to eat. But don't regret it.
You'll find time to take walks and go to the gym,
but don't stress yourself out if you gain a pound or two once you move to your college town.
You eat those wings and beer while watching a football game,
and have a damn good time.
5.) Buy those shoes.
Money is a huge issue when coming to college,
I have a part time job and still can't afford things I need.
But have I bought a pair of shoes (or ten),
and have I gone to the mall to make some (many) purchases?
How many trips have I made to Target to purchase things I don't really need? (But I do.)
Yes. It's okay to treat yourself.
College is a full time job, sometimes you just need some you time.
And if that you time includes a store and money you don't have, don't regret your purchases.
Your closet will thank you later.
6.) Take a fun class.
I know some majors are jammed packed with difficult classes,
but taking one that you actually get excited to go to can be a breath of fresh air.
For example, I'm taking a floral design class this semester.
What does it have to do with Advertising? Nothing.
Is making flower arrangements a necessary skill for my resume? Probably not.
But who cares? If it looks fun, take it.
7.) Join a club or organization.
It's the oldest advice in the book, but it still stands true.
Participating in something on your campus gets you involved and helps you to meet people.
I joined a sorority back in my freshman year, and I've met my best friends through it.
There are multiple ways to get involved on campus that aren't Greek as well,
you just have to find the place where you fit in and that holds your same interests.
It'll make college more fun and it gives you something to look forward to.
----
Well, that's in. Not sure if I was much help, but you know, at least I tried.
That should count for something.
This is honestly how I survive college
and make my life a little less crazy.
My last bit of advice is just find the routine that suits you
and stick with it.
Happy Collegeing, and here's to a new semester.
I sure hope this year doesn't fly by, not sure if I'm ready for the G word just yet.
But until next time,
